Austin is a great place to visit… one of the most popular in all of Texas. The Segway tours are a great way to see downtown Austin. They go by many of the cool attractions. We’ve seen people zip about on the Segways many times, and like you say, you can cover a lot of ground really quickly.

Would be much easier to travel around and see more things on your trip. Walking can be slow at times (especially when you aren’t 100% sure where you are going) and public transport can make you miss a lot of things, so this would be a great way to see a new city.

Could see this catching on. I’ve always fancied visiting Texas, so will have to do this if I’m ever in Austin. 🙂

I had never done something like that before and was a little scared at first, but then I realized that these things are very safe and had a blast!

The restaurant that we ate at on 6th Street afterwards was wonderful too. Fantastic day!

More than ten years ago, the inventor, Dean Kamen, kept it a secret and dubbed it “IT.” There was a lot of speculation about exactly what “IT” was. Some speculated that it was some or other inexhaustible energy source!

In the end, when “IT” became Segway, it wasn’t quite an inexhaustible energy source, but it was nevertheless an amazing machine! As the photos show, it is a two-wheeled platform with a handle to hold on to. The amazing thing is that it can sense your balance and make adjustments to keep you upright on it.

I’ve never been on a Segway tour, but some friends of mine have done it and they tell me it is truly a fun way to explore a city!
