The Battle of the Alamo is the event where many men fought bravely against overwhelming odds and died for their freedom!
The Alamo is where Texas liberty was born!
Because of this distinction, I can’t help but feel a sense of respect when my family and I visit the Alamo.
This is one historical site that we love to visit!
Amarillo Texas is located in the Texas Panhandle. Like Fort Worth, Amarillo is another of the places where you can get a taste of “Old West” Texas, which my dad is a big fan of.
There are several fun things to do in Amarillo that we like. I think the canyons are simply beautiful. You can see real cowboys buying and selling cattle, just like in the old days!
The kids can also have a good time in Amarillo.

Have you ever taken a boat ride on the Riverwalk in San Antonio?
We went to San Antonio last year and went on a boat ride on the Riverwalk. This was so much fun! It was such a nice way to see the Riverwalk.
We moved to San Antonio (with the Army) from Illinois in 2010. We had talked about going to the coast (South Padre) for a while but never did until this past weekend.
We went to South Padre Island with our 89 pound dog and we were able to get a condo right on the beach. When we opened the living room and bedroom doors, there it was.
Have you ever thought of taking a kayak tour to see the Congress Ave bats? This is exactly what we did… take a kayak tour on Lady Bird Lake!
We met up with Casey, our Live Love Paddle tour guide, at Joe’s Crab Shack on Riverside Drive. After a little review on how to kayak properly, he sent us off and told us he’d meet us at the bridge.
A story about peaches in Fredericksburg…
When I grew up in Grand Junction, Colorado, I always looked forward to the summer because in that area there are a lot of orchards.
In the summer you get fresh cherries, apricots, all kinds of vegetables, and especially peaches. The Palisade peaches, you bite in to them and the juice just pours down your arm. They are soooo good!

When I was a kid my parents, sister, and I went to Galveston every year. We did all the normal tourist attractions, except for Schlitterbahn only because it wasn’t there then. We always had the best time and some of my best memories are from there.

There is this awesome place near New Braunfels called Natural Bridge Caverns.
It is one of the most beautiful caverns in the world and is a must-see if you’re visiting in New Braunfels or even San Antonio.
Daniel Boone and Davy Crockett may no longer be there, but Dallas is alive and well. I live here and have a few suggestions for great times in Dallas Texas!
