Sandcastle Lessons with Andy Hancock

Sandcastle Lessons With Andy HancockDuring a recent trip to South Padre Island, we decided to take sandcastle lessons, and boy, was that fun!

We saw the sandcastle lessons advertised on the Island’s web site before we booked our break.

We rang Andy Hancock and his competition. Andy sounded very enthusiastic on the phone and we decided go with Andy to have sandcastle lessons with the children, as it looked like real fun.

We had no idea that Andy the Australian would have more stories than JK Rowling and keep us entertained for hours. Even though he didn’t press us about the time and only charged us for the time booked.

The children had a great time and we all learned a lot about sand and sandcastles.

Andy was based at the Sheraton hotel but gave lessons all over the beach for the entire day – he even lent us a bucket and shovel so we could carry on in the afternoon!

We would recommend this activity to anyone and ANDY WITH IT!! Thanks for a wonderful time!

We rang 956 433 9948 for our lesson and went with Andy as he just sounded like more fun. He was also able to help us with a fishing trip and dinner (Sea Ranch).

  2. Took my girl scout troop to Andy for sandcastle building lessons and it was fantastic. He is a one man show and kept us in stitches the whole time. The girls learned alot and loved the class. He even helped with a badge requirement we needed. The girls were planning their return trip before we even left South Padre Island and another class with Andy will be on the agenda for sure.

  3. Family of 4, with children being age 17 and age 4 made for an interesting trip. We had some difficulties keeping both girls as happy as possible. With one exception.

Sand Castle lessons with Andy Hancock! We had the great honor of meeting Andy away from the lesson area, and enjoyed his company a lot. When we discovered that he gave the lessons, our decision whether or not this would be fun for both girls, was easily made for us. Absolutely! We joined Andy on the beach on a somewhat dreary day. Rained over night and off and on the remainder of the day. We were fortunate that the weather held out for us for a couple hours.

Our 4 yr old of course was enthralled with the whole process, and she and I quickly caught on to the very simple instructions given by Andy. We began our Sand Castle built for a beach princess, complete with sea shell adornment.

Our 17 yr old is very artistic and naturally wanted something a little more challenging. With a brief family discussion we decided that she would build a dragon. Andy was so attentive, and easy to follow his instructions, that making this rather difficult sculpture became reality in just under 2 hours. Wow! The details on the face, wings, and tail were amazing. (I wish i had the ability to share the photos).

Needless to say, a good time was had by all, and both girls came away with knowledge as well as entertainment. We look forward to building on our skills in the years to come.

Thank you Andy! You’re the best!

The Garretts; Chris, Dottie and our girls.
